SUN JULY 26 2026-theGBJournal| The Lagos State Audit Service Commission (ASC) has called for wider adoption of data-driven decision-making across the public service, saying effective use of data is essential to improving institutional performance, accountability and service delivery.
The commission made the call during its quarterly strategy workshop in Ikeja, where senior public service officials urged ministries, departments and agencies to strengthen data management, embrace digital tools and build capacity to support evidence-based policymaking and operational efficiency.
Speaking at the workshop, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs Sunkanmi Oyegbola, representing the Head of Service, described data as a strategic asset for modern governance and stressed the need for accurate, reliable data, innovation and continuous capacity building.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr Wasiu Agbabiaka, encouraged public servants to adopt a data-driven culture by using technology and analytics to improve planning, performance management and institutional effectiveness.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Audit Service Commission, Mrs Oluwakemi Amudat Garbadeen-Adedeji, said the workshop was designed to strengthen officers’ capacity in data management and utilisation to enhance transparency, accountability and human resource management within the state’s audit ecosystem.
The workshop included technical presentations and interactive sessions on data relevance, distribution, analytics and dashboarding, providing participants with practical tools to improve workplace efficiency and institutional effectiveness.
