SUN JULY 26 2026-theGBJournal| The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) are stepping up efforts to strengthen consumer rights and improve regulatory compliance.

This is underscored by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies aimed at enhancing consumer protection across Lagos State.

As part of the agreement, both agencies will jointly host a stakeholders’ engagement forum on 29 July themed: “Price Tagging, Minimum Labelling Requirements and Return/Refund: The Implications of Non-Regulatory Compliance.”

The forum is designed to bring together businesses, regulators and consumer groups to review progress in implementing the partnership, improve coordination between the federal and state consumer protection authorities, and reinforce compliance with rules on transparent pricing, product labelling and refund policies.

LASCOPA said the engagement would also provide a platform for addressing concerns affecting consumers and businesses, while promoting fair trade practices and strengthening enforcement of consumer protection regulations in Lagos.

The agency has invited consumers to submit questions, observations and complaints ahead of the forum to help shape discussions.
