WED OCT 14 2026-theGBJournal| The Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) has clarified that the proposed offering of securities by Dangote Petroleum and Petrochemicals in Ethiopia will be restricted exclusively to qualified investors, ruling out participation by the general public.
In a public notice, the regulator said the proposed offering, linked to the company’s initial public offering (IPO), must comply with Ethiopia’s capital market laws and regulations.
The ECMA stipulated that the offer may involve no more than 100 qualified investors without its prior approval.
It also directed market intermediaries to verify investors’ eligibility, ensure promotional materials clearly state the restrictions and obtain regulatory approval for advertisements before publication.
ECMA warned that any unauthorised marketing or sale of the securities to members of the public could violate Ethiopian law and trigger regulatory action.
The authority stressed that permitting the offering does not amount to an endorsement of the securities, the issuer or the investment’s potential returns.
Qualified investors are expected to assess the risks independently before making investment decisions.
