TUE AUG 11 2026-theGBJournal| Afrobeats star Davido has appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump to pay close attention to Nigeria’s Osun State ahead of its governorship election, warning of growing tensions and the risk of violence and disruption.
Davido urged the United States and the international community to monitor the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure the integrity of the ballot.
“Osun people deserve to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely, peacefully, and without fear,” Davido said in an appeal addressed to Trump.
The singer expressed concern over the possibility of violence, intimidation and disruption of the democratic process as political tensions rise ahead of the poll.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” he said.

President Donald Trump, I am calling your attention to the situation in Osun State, Nigeria, as we approach the election.
