TUES JULY 21 2026-theGBJournal| Renaissance Africa Energy Company has appointed four prominent business leaders to its board, bringing together expertise from Nigeria’s energy, financial services and corporate governance sectors as the indigenous oil and gas company strengthens its leadership following its acquisition of Shell’s onshore assets.
The new directors include Osagie Okunbor, former Chairman and Managing Director of Shell Nigeria; Taba Peterside, a leading microfinance banking executive and corporate governance expert; Beatrice Spaine, an experienced energy executive; and Dr. Tajuddeen Umar, whose extensive boardroom and public sector experience is expected to support the company’s long-term growth and strategic ambitions.
Okunbor, one of the most respected energy industry in Nigeria, with nearly four decades at Shell, is a champion of indigenous capacity development and stakeholder collaboration.
He served as Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Economic summit Group (NESG).
Spaine, a chemical engineer, is a seasoned upstream petroleum industry executive with over three decades of experience, delivering technical, strategic, operational and commercial value from assets located onshore.
She has served on the board of Shell Nigeria entities, including the Shell closed pension fund administrator
Tajuddeen Umar also brings some 40 years of experience to the Renaissance board including service in the public where he served as Executive Chairman, Nigeria-Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority. He also doubled as the Executive Director, Monitoring and Inspections of the same organization while serving as chairman.
Taba Peterside brings to the board her over 35 years of experience in the financial sector regulation, banking and capital markets as well as research and development.
She is the founder and CEO of Waveline Growth Partners, a microfinance lender.
As head of Listings at the Nigerian Exchange, she initiated the listing of several major companies.
Among other professional affiliations, she is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria.
