Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) training programme

SUN AUG 09 2026-theGBJournal| The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has completed a two-week training programme aimed at improving the professionalism, operational efficiency and service delivery of personnel at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, the service said Sunday.

The training, held from July 28 to Aug. 7 at the Service Headquarters in Abuja, was the first in a planned series of capacity-building programmes for immigration personnel deployed to airports across Nigeria, according to the NIS.

The programme, conducted under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Immigration Kemi Nanna Nandap, focused on passenger profiling, visa and entry verification, passenger and crew clearance, queue management, MIDAS and e-Gates, apron operations, hostmanship, ethical conduct and anti-corruption practices.

The NIS said the initiative was designed to equip its personnel to respond to the changing demands of modern airport operations, rising passenger traffic and the increasing use of technology in border management.

It said the training was also intended to strengthen adherence to professional and ethical standards while improving the experience of international travellers passing through Nigeria’s airports.

“The Nigeria Immigration Service remains committed to continuously improving its airport operations through professional capacity development, innovation, accountability and adherence to global best practices,” the statement said.

The service said the measures were aimed at strengthening border security while enhancing the quality of service provided to travellers.
