MON AUG 10 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria has deployed a dedicated passport intervention team to the United Kingdom to help clear pending applications and ease access to passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora, the Nigeria Immigration Service said Sunday.
The team, directed by Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and led by Immigration Comptroller-General Kemi Nanna Nandap, is scheduled to arrive in Britain on Monday and work with the Nigerian High Commission.
The intervention will cover pending, new and renewal passport applications, with the team travelling to designated cities across the UK to conduct enrolment and processing.
The initiative is also open to Nigerians whose passports have less than one year remaining before expiry and who wish to renew them, the NIS said in a statement issued from its headquarters in Abuja.
Applicants participating in the exercise must present their completed application forms and proof of payment during enrolment.
The immigration service said the detailed schedule, including the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times, would be announced separately.
It warned applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule is released, urging them instead to monitor the Nigerian High Commission’s official communication channels for updates.
The NIS said its digital passport application channels, including the Contactless Passport Application System, would remain fully operational throughout the intervention.
Home delivery services will also continue to be available.
The service said the initiative was part of efforts to provide efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians at home and abroad.
