FRI AUG 28 2026-theGBJournal| The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has directed CCECC to repair damaged sections of the Benin–Asaba Highway in Delta State within 14 days.
The directive followed an inspection of the Asaba axis of the Second Niger Bridge access road, where concerns were raised over the Ubulu-Okiti and Onicha-Ugbo sections and the hardship faced by motorists.
CCECC was also directed to rehabilitate service lanes where asphalt had been removed and urgently intervene on sections between Chainage 103 and 105, as well as Chainage 106 and 107, covering about four kilometres of dual carriageway, under an emergency arrangement.
The Minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the ₦148 billion Second Niger Bridge access project, noting that 4.47 kilometres of dual carriageway, representing 26.7 per cent completion, had been achieved.
Representing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, commended the intervention, noting that it would ease movement and support economic activities along the corridor.
