Governor Douye Diri skills acquisition and empowerment programme enters Phase 4; 32,100 pick form as training begins in May, 2026

MON MAR 23 2026-theGBJournal| The Bayelsa State Government announced weekend that the selection process of beneficiaries for the Phase 4 of the Douye Diri Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Programme will commence soon following the distribution of forms across the eight Local Government Areas of the state.

The Technical Adviser on Entrepreneurship Development, Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, engaged with key leaders and stakeholders of each of the LGA to ensure smooth distribution of the forms to the intended beneficiaries.

In the 4th phase of the empowerment programme, beneficiaries would acquire skills in 24 different areas of trade including:

1. Mastering AI Tools
2. Web Design
3. App Development
4. Animation
5. Video and Photo Editing
6. Graphic Design
7. Content Creation
8. Digital Marketing
9. Drop Shipping
10. Phone Repair
11. Catering, Pastries, and Food Processing
12. Fashion Design
13. Paint Production and Application
14. Acrylic Nails, Nail Fixing, Eyelashes, and Contact Lens Application
15. Makeup and Gele Tying
16. Shoe Production
17. Solar and Electrical Works
18. Barbing
19. Cosmetology
20. Soap and Detergents Production
21. Fish Farming
22. Snail and urban farming.
23. Generator and Plants Repairs
24. Welding

After the distribution exercise, a total of 32,100 people picked the form with Nembe LGA recording the highest number of 6,500, followed by Yenagoa with 6,200 people, then Southern Ijaw LGA with 5,650, people.

Sagbama LGA, 5,350, Brass LGA(4,180), Kolokuma/Opokuma (4,150), Ekeremor LGA (3,220) and Ogbia LGA (3,100).

After selection, training will commence in May, 2026 at the respective Local Government headquarters and will run for two months.

Mrs. Charity Kens Godwin, appreciated Governor Douye Diri, for the initiative that is empowering many Bayelsans to become self-reliant and thanked all the political leaders who joined her team in the forms distribution in the 8 LGAs.
