…The NASD OTC market closed the session on a subdued note, with the NASD Security Index (NSI) unchanged at 4,563.96 points.

THUR AUG 06 2026-theGBJournal| The Nigerian equities market rebounded modestly in Wednesday’s trading session, with the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) advancing by 0.04% to close at 244,912.24 points.

Despite the marginal gain in the benchmark index, market capitalisation declined by 0.34% to N158.09 trillion, reflecting adjustments in the listing of certain securities.

Consequently, the market’s year-to-date (YTD) return edged higher to 57.39%, from 57.32% in the previous session.

The market’s positive performance was driven by gains in FIRSTHOLDCO (+5.38%), FCMB (+4.00%) and LINKASSURE (+9.94%), which outweighed losses in DANGSUGAR (-5.00%), STERLINGNG (-4.38%) and AFRIPRUD (-7.75%).

Trading activity moderated during the session, with total traded volume declining by 47.21% to 824.06mn units, while the value of transactions fell by 11.07% to N25.47 billion. FCMB (+4.00%) led the volume chart with 369.24 million units traded, while FIRSTHOLDCO (+5.38%) topped the value chart with N5.68 billion worth of transactions.

Market breadth remained negative at 0.71x, with twenty (20) gainers against twenty-eight (28) losers.

LINKASSURE (+9.94%) emerged as the session’s top performer, while MULTIVERSE (-7.19%) recorded the steepest decline.

The NASD OTC market closed the session on a subdued note, with the NASD Security Index (NSI) unchanged at 4,563.96 points.

As a result, market capitalisation remained steady at N2.74trn, while the market’s year-to-date (YTD) return held firm at 28.79%.

Trading activity weakened significantly during the session. Total traded volume declined by 99.95% to 802 units, while the value of transactions fell by 99.56% to N0.21mn. Only two trades were executed during the day.

There were no price gainers or losers, as all traded securities closed unchanged.

Meanwhile, the official naira rate appreciated by 1bp to N1,364.06/USD.
