…London Stock Exchange visit signals push to connect African industrial growth with global capital.

London Stock Exchange welcomes Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group and team

TUE OCT 27 2026-theGBJournal| The race for a stake in Aliko Dangote’s refinery business is gathering momentum as the Dangote Refinery initial public offering (IPO) reaches its closing day today, October 27, with as much as $1.6 billion in fully funded commitments already secured, raising the prospect of an allocation squeeze as international investors seek entry into the landmark offering.

The reported commitments from Nigerian and retail investors are understood to be sufficient to meet the IPO’s fundraising target, putting the spotlight on how shares will be allocated as the offer closes and demand from overseas investors intensifies.

The development marks a significant moment for Nigeria’s capital market, with the proposed listing offering investors an opportunity to participate in one of Africa’s most ambitious industrial ventures.

It also places the Dangote Refinery at the centre of a broader conversation about domestic capital mobilisation, international investment and the financing of large-scale industrial infrastructure in Africa.

Against this backdrop, Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote and his delegation visited the London Stock Exchange (LSE) today in a move that underscores the group’s ambition to strengthen international investor engagement around the refinery IPO.

The visit, presented as part of engagements surrounding the offering, highlights the importance of connecting African industrial enterprises with global capital markets and broadening international awareness of investment opportunities emerging from the continent.

The Group said the engagement reflects its commitment to strengthening investor confidence, fostering international partnerships and creating opportunities for wider participation in Africa’s industrial growth.

As the refinery moves towards the capital market, the strategic objective is to make the continent’s industrial expansion more accessible to investors beyond its domestic markets.

A close source to the G&B Journal aware of visit said, the visit only adds an international dimension to the IPO story.

“Its significance should be distinguished from the formal mechanics of the offer,” he adds.

With the October 27 deadline here, the immediate priorities are the confirmation of final subscriptions, the publication of any official oversubscription figures, the determination of share allocations and communication of the next steps to successful applicants.

Investors will also be watching for official information on the final offer size, the number of shares allocated across investor categories and the timetable for any subsequent listing or commencement of trading.

These details will establish the extent of investor participation and clarify how the IPO translates into actual ownership.
