WED AUG 19 2026-theGBJournal| A gathering of investors, business executives, and African government officials will present approximately $4 billion in investment opportunities before global institutional capital at MGM National Harbor, Washington Metropolitan Area, on August 27–28, 2026 –reflecting a growing interest in the continent as investors look beyond traditional developed markets for higher returns, diversification, and long-term growth.

The Summit will open with a ceremonial programme featuring a Royal Keynote delivered by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene – the Summit’s Patron.

The two-day programme will feature institutional investors, private equity and private credit firms, multilateral development institutions, blended finance organizations, development finance institutions, sovereign representatives, policymakers, family offices, and business leaders, with sessions spanning infrastructure, mining, natural resources, agriculture, manufacturing, technology, energy, critical minerals, fintech, health tech, and creative economy sectors.

High-level guests include H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of the Republic of Ghana; Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Minister of Finance, Ghana; Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana; H.E. Victor Emmanuel Smith, Ambassador of Ghana to the United States; and H.E. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State, Nigeria.

Private sector leaders confirmed to participate include Tonye Cole, Co-Founder of Sahara Group; Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave; Boris Kodjoe, Actor, Diaspora Advocate, and Co-Founder of Full Circle Africa; Reta Jo Lewis, Former President of the Export–Import Bank of the United States; Thomas Svanikier, Co-Founder and Chairman of Africa Capital; Akunna Cook, Founder and CEO of Next Narrative Africa Fund; Fred Swaniker, Founder and CEO of Sand Technologies.

“The fundamentals have changed,” said Nana Agyeman Prempeh, President of the Millennium Excellence Foundation.

“As projects have been de-risked through stronger institutions, blended finance, and policy reforms, Africa’s investment opportunities offer increasingly attractive risk-adjusted returns. The market is only beginning to recognize that shift.”

Structured around a $500 million deal commitment mandate, the Summit’s two-day programme reflects a broader shift in global capital allocation.

Day One, proceeding under the theme “Unlocking Africa’s Century: A Diaspora Mandate”, will feature senior government officials and policymakers establishing the political and intergovernmental will behind the deal and plenary discussions examining how diaspora capital can move beyond remittances, Africa’s positioning in the global critical minerals supply chain, and the intersection of energy infrastructure and the US–Africa partnership.

Day Two, themed “From Vision to Commitment: Diaspora Capital Meets African Opportunity”, will turn to deal execution, with bilateral investment meetings across sector deal rooms targeting signed MOUs and Letters of Intent, and a closing signing ceremony presided over by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Several projects are expected to benefit from government investment incentives designed to improve project economics, alongside commercial return profiles structured to meet institutional thresholds.

The Africa Business Investment Summit serves as the commercial centerpiece of Millennium Excellence Week, a series of events recognizing leadership while strengthening commercial and investment ties between Africa and the global investment community.
