TUE, MARCH 17 2020-theG&BJournal- President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the 2020 National Sport Festival, ‘’as a precautionary move against COVID-19.’’
The President was briefed earlier today by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development and the Minister of Health.
The Festival tagged EDO 2020 was scheduled to hold between March 22, to April 1, 2020 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
The cancellation follows similar steps taken by numerous sporting organisations and governments around the world amidst the continued spread of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Euro 2020 football tournament has been put off until 2021. The announcement was made by the Norwegian Football Association in a post on Twitter.
”Uefa has decided that the Euros should be be postponed until 2021. It will be played from 11 June to 11 July next year,” Norwegian Football Association twitted.
