Some groups have urged former governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa to reconcile with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The groups, who came separately to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, told newsmen that the party could not move forward in the face of such crisis.

One of the groups, The Legacy Party led by Mr Nalaguso Alagoa, said the cause of the crisis was the allegation that Sylva was trading party slots instead of fixing men that worked to give APC a name in Bayelsa, a PDP stronghold.

Algoa said: “What is happening in Bayelsa State is not a fight between the Chairman of the party, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, and Chief Timipre Sylva, is not so.

“It is a struggle of the party against one man who in his wisdom thinks he will trade with what we have achieved.

“We are not, however, furthering the crisis in the Bayelsa chapter of the party rather are asking for dialogue to give room for those who have worked for the party to reap the fruit of the labour.’’

Another group, the United Democratic Front, called on the former governor to make peace with a senatorial candidate of the party in the last election, Mr Preye Aganaba.

The group said Aganaba had contributed immensely to the formation and election victory of the APC beyond being accused of ingratitude, urging Sylva to “sue for forgiveness and then peace’’.

Other groups that visited the secretariat to sue for peace for the party in the state were the Bayelsa Stakeholders and the Association of the Bayelsa Ward Chairmen.

However, Sylva is yet to react to the development.
