Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, while presiding over an emergency Rivers executive council meeting on Sunday, named a 10-member committee to prepare his first-year accountability report, which he plans to present to Rivers people when his administration clocks one year next month.

The committee, according to Austin Tam-George, the state commissioner for information and communication, would coordinate the one-year accountability report of the Wike administration with the directive that they are to produce relevant documentation backed by videos and pictorials of the state government’s interventions to revive the state.

Tam-George, speaking after the emergency executive council meeting, said: “The accountability documentation would be done on a sector to sector basis, because the people of the state are entitled to know how the government they put in place is fairing.”

He said the emergency state executive council meeting was targeted at strengthening good governance, accountability and enhancing the performance capacity of the administration.

Also, the state executive council also directed the State Road Maintenance Agency to sustain the successes recorded in the rehabilitation of 16 major roads in the state.

The council had critically examined all the roads already rehabilitated by the State Maintenance Agency, and reached a decision that the agency had applied state resources judiciously.

The information commissioner noted that the state executive council resolved that all efforts must be geared towards ensuring that Rivers people get value for money expended.

He added that Governor Wike emphasised on the need for the agency to continue on the path of service by putting an end to bad roads in the state.
