FRI OCT 30 2026-theGBJournal| President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proposed a partial reshuffle of the leadership of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), nominating three new executive directors while retaining three existing directors for another five-year term.

The six nominations, contained in a letter to the Senate released by his aide, Bayo Onanuga, are part of a leadership restructuring that will see the regulator maintain some institutional continuity while bringing new officials into key operational and administrative positions.

The nominations comprise three serving executive directors being reappointed and three new appointees, all of whom will serve five-year terms subject to Senate confirmation.

Those nominated for another term are Mr Abiodun Adeniji, Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Mr Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Dr Mustapha Lamorde, Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mr Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, who has been nominated as Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ms Ogechukwu Modie, Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Mr Said Abutalib, Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.

The appointments cover key areas of the authority’s responsibilities, including financial management, petroleum distribution and storage infrastructure, industrial installations, economic regulation, strategic planning and corporate administration.

President Tinubu has urged the Senate to consider the nominations expeditiously, saying the process is necessary to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the Authority’s oversight capacity.

In a related appointment, the President has approved Mrs Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of the statutory processes prescribed under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).

The latest nominations follow President Tinubu’s appointment in April of Engr. Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as chief executive of the regulatory agency.

The Senate’s confirmation of the six nominees will complete the process of constituting the Authority’s executive leadership team.
