SAT JUNE 27 2026-theGBJournal| The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has inducted 50 senior officers into the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered), as the agency steps up investment in leadership development and professional capacity-building to strengthen migration management and institutional performance.

The officers were formally admitted into the professional body on June 24 after completing a strategic management certification programme, underscoring the Service’s broader drive to build a knowledge-based workforce equipped to respond to the increasingly complex demands of border security, migration governance and public sector leadership.

Speaking at the induction ceremony held at the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service Auditorium in Abuja, the President and Chairman-in-Council of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (Chartered), Alex Ndudi Enebeli, said strategic management requires continuous learning, innovation and adaptation.

He urged the newly inducted members to continually upgrade their knowledge and professional competencies to remain effective leaders.

Representing the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, Assistant Comptroller-General in charge of the Migration Directorate, A.M. Halliday, described strategic management as the cornerstone of effective leadership and institutional excellence.

She encouraged the officers to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme to drive innovation, improve organisational performance and advance the Service’s mandate with professionalism, accountability and strategic vision.

The induction forms part of the Nigeria Immigration Service’s wider human capital development agenda, which focuses on strengthening institutional capacity through strategic partnerships, specialised training and continuous professional development aimed at enhancing service delivery, migration management and border governance.
