THUR JUNE 25 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria LNG Ltd.’s $10 billion Train 7 project has reached about 90% completion, marking a major milestone for one of the country’s most significant gas investments as efforts shift towards pre-commissioning activities ahead of first hydrocarbons next year.
The progress update was disclosed during a meeting held in Lagos on Wednesday between the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) management team led by The Executive Secretary, Felix Omatsola Ogbe and the newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG (NLNG), Leye Falade, who assumed office in April.
The discussions centred on deepening collaboration on local content development and accelerating strategic projects aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Train 7, designed to expand NLNG’s production capacity and reinforce Nigeria’s position in the global liquefied natural gas market, has also surpassed initial employment projections.
The project engaged about 16,000 direct workers at peak construction and created thousands of indirect jobs across the value chain, providing a boost to employment and economic activity.
As construction nears completion, both organisations also highlighted the need to fast-track the proposed shipyard development project to improve Nigeria’s domestic dry-docking and maintenance capabilities, while reaffirming their commitment to advancing local content and supporting long-term growth in the energy sector.
