NGX All-Share Index surges 88bps w/w boosted by buying interests heavyweight stocks

FRI JUNE 12 2026-theGBJournal| The Nigerian Equities Market closed the holiday shortened week on a positive note, as the All-Share Index (ASI) appreciated by 0.88% w/w to close at 244,738.74 points.

Consequently, the year-to-date return increased slightly to 57.27% from 55.90% in the previous week. Similarly, market capitalisation increased by 0.88% w/w to settle at N156.96 trillion.

The positive sentiments were driven by buying interests in stocks such as OANDO (+10.42% w/w), AIRTELAFRI (+10.00% w/w) and DANGSUGAR (+8.61% w/w), which outweighed sell-offs in FIDSON (-25.86% w/w), MANSARD (-6.67% w/w) and OKOMUOIL (-10.00% w/w).

However, in Thursday’s session the market recorded a loss as the NGX ASI and market capitalisation declined by 0.05%, driven by losses in UACN (-6.85%), MAYBAKER (-4.00%), ZENITHBANK (-2.50%), and FIDSON (-1.80%) which outweighed gains in DANGSUGAR (+4.55%), ENAMELWARE (+3.70%), TIP (+3.00%), NEM (+2.05%), and WAPCO (+2.00%).

Market activity strengthened during the session, with total volume traded and value exchanged expandingby 40.29% and 35.96%, respectively, reflecting increased investor participation. FCMB (+0.00%) topped the volume chart with 584.87 million units, while ACCESSCORP (-1.20%) led the value chart with transactions worth 13.95bn.

Market breadth closed negative at 0.94x, reflecting a higher number of decliners relative to advancers. UPL (+10.00%) emerged as the session’s top gainer among the 31 advancing stocks, while INTENEGINS (-10.00%) led the 33 decliners at the close of trading.

Meanwhile, the NASD OTC market closed Thursday’s trading session on a positive note, with the NASD Security Index (NSI) increasing by 1.04% to 4375.01 points. Similarly, market capitalisation also increased by 1.04% to settle at N2.61 trillion.

Trading activity rose considerably during the session, as total volume traded climbed by 2,558.53%, while total transaction value increased by 463.10%. A total of 3,120,426 shares valued at ₦68.51mn were exchanged across 27 deals.

On the performance chart, SDCSCSPLC emerged as the session’s top advancer, gaining 6.68%. Conversely, SDMRS (-0.06%) led the decliners as the worst-performing stock of the day.
