MON APRIL 20 2026-theGBJournal| In a move to strengthen its global footprint and enhance payment security, Verve International has announced its membership in two leading global payment standards organisations — the NEXO Standards Community and the PCI Security Standards Council.
The PCI Security Standards Council sets and enforces critical security benchmarks designed to protect cardholder data across the entire payments ecosystem, including banks, merchants, processors, and service providers.
Its frameworks help reduce risks related to fraud, data breaches, and regulatory penalties by ensuring strict compliance in handling sensitive financial data.
By joining the Council, Verve International aligns more closely with global best practices while also contributing African perspectives to the evolving conversation on card data protection worldwide.
The company has also become part of the NEXO Standards Community, which develops interoperable messaging standards that enable seamless communication between payment terminals, processors, and financial institutions.
This is expected to simplify system integration, improve cross-border payment efficiency, and support innovation as digital transactions continue to expand across Africa and beyond.
Speaking on the development, Managing Director Vincent Ogbunude said ”Security, trust, and seamless interoperability remain central to Verve’s mission.
Joining the PCI Security Standards Council and the NEXO Standards community strengthens our alignment with global best practices and enhances our ability to deliver secure, scalable, and future-ready payment solutions for our partners and cardholders across Africa and beyond.”
The dual memberships underscore Verve’s broader strategy to modernise payment infrastructure, reduce technical barriers for stakeholders, and deliver smarter, more secure payment experiences.
With these affiliations, the company is poised to play a stronger role in shaping global standards that drive safe and seamless digital commerce.
