MON MAR 30 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria’s aviation sector is facing renewed turbulence as Air Peace has announced disruptions to its flight operations and baggage handling services, citing a worsening shortage of aviation fuel.
The airline suggested the supply constraints are already impacting schedules across several routes, raising concerns among passengers and industry stakeholders.
‘As a result, there may be baggage carriage limitations on certain flights,” the airline said in a statement released by its spokesperson, Osifo-Whiskey Efe today.
”In some cases, this may require adjustments to checked baggage handling to ensure full compliance with operational and safety requirements.”
According to the carrier, any affected baggage will be scheduled for transportation on subsequent flights and handled with appropriate care throughout the process.
The scarcity of Jet A1 fuel has made it increasingly difficult for Nigerian carriers to maintain seamless operations, forcing adjustments that leads to delays, rescheduling, and irregular baggage movement.
Air Peace apologized to its customers, while urging them to stay updated through its official communication channels as it works to manage the situation effectively.
The development underscores broader challenges within Nigeria’s aviation industry, and with peak travel demand approaching, the situation could escalate further unless urgent interventions are made to stabilize fuel availability and support uninterrupted air travel.
