MON, MARCH 04 2019-theG&BJournal- In a space dominated mostly by men, and in a genre almost exclusively reserved for males – sports is undoubtedly a major aspect of the American past time, led by Baseball, Football, Basketball, and rounded off by Hockey, and now more recently – Soccer.

Calling these games is indeed daunting, but not for a certain 16 year old girl, who whistle in hand, called her first game a few hours ago in Los Angeles.

“You would think there was pressure meeting and speaking to all those world leaders she asks? Oh think again. Imagine a game where the parents think their child is the best on the court, and can do no wrong or make a mistake, she said”. I had to be tough on the parents who spoke out or yelled, and kind and gentle on the players.

It is like being the UN Secretary General, she added with a smile. In between all her projects and school work, Zuriel herself played for three seasons in a Basketball league travel team, before switching to playing soccer for an under 19 girls team until December last year.
