‘’We are safe and sound! Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern and thank you to the crew who managed the situation well,’’ the VP said on his twitter handle.

‘’We believe God will continue to keep us and Nigeria safe even as we go higher,’’ he said.

The VP confirmed he is continuing with his engagement in Kabba, Kogi State, Nigeria despite the accident.

Speaking at the palace of the Obaro of Kabba later in the day, the VP expressed gratitude to the Lord for preserving his life and that of his crew.

‘’Everyone of us is safe and no one is maimed,’’ he said.

The news came as a big shock to many Nigerians. ‘’We pray God will continue to protect him always.’’ Our source familiar with the VP said.

The cause of the crash is yet to be determined and aviation experts say it will take days if not weeks to ascertain the cause of the helicopter malfunction.

Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa said he rejoices with Mr President, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, the entire Federal Executive Council and the generality of Nigerians because, we would have been thrown into a national mourning if the devil had prevailed in his evil enterprise.

“We thank God who has been merciful unto us as a nation and it is my prayer that such calamities will never occur in our dear country again, adding “I also call on relevant aviation regulatory agencies to investigate the crash with a view to unravelling the remote and the immediate cause of the crash and making plans to avert occurrence.”

The Governor called on relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate maintenance and world best practices in the aviation sector to prevent deaths occasioned by such negative occurrences.

“It is also my appeal that relevant authorities must brace up to their job and ensure effective regulation in the sector. They must ensure adequate maintenance and international best practices for airplanes and helicopters conveying people of authority and those not in authority to prevent unnecessary loss of life due to avoidable mishaps,” Okowa said

Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate said he is happy to note that it is well with the VP and his delegates after the news broke to him.
