…Says Nigeria poised to leverage opportunities in digital space to engage youths, empower women and girls at Global Leadership Council Meeting
FRI SEPT 26 2025-theGBJournal| Vice President Kashim Shettima Thursday at the Global Leadership Council Meeting, assured that Nigeria is poised to leverage opportunities in the digital space to engage Nigerian youths and empower Nigerian women and girls.
The Global Leadership Council Meeting, held at the UNICEF Headquarters, Henry Labouisse Hall, 3 United Nations Plaza, United States, drew Heads of State, CEOs, heads of UN agencies, and civil society champions along with young people to analyze how to co-create and deliver innovative solutions on a global scale.
Vice President Shettima assured that the Nigerian government is working hard to develop solutions while partnering with the private sector to drive the process, highlighting that youths need access to digital skills they can market in the global workspace.
He added that 21st-century digital skills can address issues of irregular migration.
“Be rest assured that we are poised to take opportunities in the digital space to engage our youth, and most importantly to empower our women because they are the backbone of our society,” he said, adding that inclusivity, which is very crucial, is one of the backbones of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, exemplified by young people occupying positions in Nigeria’s government.
Earlier, the Vice President Kashim Shettima met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the UN headquarters to discuss key issues, including Nigeria’s quest for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council, SDGs, Climate Change, artificial intelligence and other matters of mutual interest.
