TUE, MAY 14 2019-theG&BJournal-The Embassy and Consulate of the United States in Nigeria has suspended the interview waiver ‘Drop Box’ application process effective (today) May 14, 2019.
The announcement comes after visa applicants endured several weeks and in most cases up to 2 months wait for their visa to be processed and passport returned.
Several Nigerians were denied other travel arrangements following the long frustrating length of time taken to return their passports. Majority if not all, according to source were denied visa or were offered opportunity to book a fresh visa interview date.
TheG&BJournal investigations reveal that the earliest visa interview date available for Nigerian travellers is August 2019. But another source said most that were offered the opportunity to re-aply got surprise invitation two days later.
The drop box process was used in the past as a fast-track visa application process and made available for those who previously were given two years US visa and who renew same within one year after it expires.
The US Embassy did not offer explanation for the change in policy in the notice.
