TUE NOV 05 2024-theGBJournal| It is election day in the United States of America and the polls still shows one of the closest presidential races in history of American politics.
Democratic Party Presidential candidate, Kamala Harris and her Republican Party opponent Donald Trump closed their campaign in key swing states of Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina and Arizona, pitching their base on the issues most likely to sway voters-including immigration, abortion and women’s right.
Close to 80 million Americans have already voted in the election to elect the country’s 47th President which will either see the return of former President Donald Trump or the enthronement of the first female/black president of America in Kamala Harris.
Latest Gallup poll shows that more U.S. registered voters see the economy as most important issue determining which candidate they vote for. Alongside that is immigration and abortion issues and women’s right.
In Economy and immigration the polls shows Trump leading comfortably against Harris but Harris holds the edge in promoting national unity and protecting democracy.
The poll also shows that nine in 10 U.S. registered voters, including 93% of Republicans and 95% of Democrats, say they have made up their minds about whom they will vote for in the presidential election.
Meanwhile, election officials are urging voters to be patient while the votes are counted, warning that it could take several days.
