THUR 14 JAN, 2021-theGBJournal- Third-ranking Republican, Liz Cheney daughter of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, led the chorus Wednesday for dissenting Republicans who stood with the Democrats in House of Representative to impeach President Donald Trump again.

Cheney, visibly outraged told the House ‘’there has never been a greater betrayal by a president of the United States of his office and his oath to the Constitution. I will vote to impeach the President.’’

Her outrage stems from the January 6, 2021 invasion, which resulted in the death of five U.S citizens including Capitol Police Officer, an invasion stoked by the rhetoric of President Trump who she said ‘’summoned the this mob, assembled the mob, and lit the flame of this attack,’’  adding that, ‘’none of this would have happened with the President. The President could have immediately and forcefully intervened to stop the violence. He did not.’’

Liz Cheney was joined by Reps John Katko- N.Y, Fred Upton- Mich, Jaime Herrera Beutler-Wash, Dan Newhouse-Wash, Adam Kinzinger-Ill, Tom Rice-S.C, Anthony Gonzalez-Ohio, Peter Meijer-Mich and David Valadao to deal the blow on Trump.

There were talks that many other Republicans wanted to join the nine but held out, out of fear for their lives if they voted against Trump.

The impeachment means Trump will leave the office without hope of ever holding a public office as well as being the only President in U.S. history to be impeached twice in the 245-year history of the country.

In all, 232 Reps voted (Bipartisan) to impeach Trump. 197 said Nay. Nancy Pelosi will now decide when to transmit the article to the U.S Senate for trial.
