…His win in Wisconsin, with 10 electoral votes puts him well above the 270 electoral votes needed to be elected as President of the United States.
WED NOV 06 2024-theGBJournal| Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States of America, the first president since Grover Cleveland in the 1800s to return to office after a defeat, a feat that underscores his immense influence in American politics.
His win in Wisconsin, with 10 electoral votes puts him well above the 270 electoral votes needed to be elected as President of the United States.
”This will truly be the golden age of America,” Trump said in his first message to the American people after many major news networks projected a win for him.
”America has given us an unprecedented mandate. I will not rest until we have delivered a strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve,” he added.
The Republicans has also taken back the Senate from the Democrats after flipping a number of crucial seats.
The former president won key battle states of North Carolina and Georgia and also took a string of other states including Texas, Florida and Iowa to secure a comfortable lead-in both total vote count and number of electoral votes.
World leaders and U.S major allies began congratulating the President-elect on his victory as it becomes obvious his opponent, Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris, will not be able to overturn the significant lead he already built-over 3 million popular votes and 266 electoral votes.
”Congratulations President-elect Trump on your historic election victory. I look forward to working with you in the coming years ahead. As the closest allies, we stand shoulder to shoulder in defence of our shared values of freedom, democracy and enterprise,” UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer said in congratulatory message to Trump.
”Ready to work together as we did for four years,” French President Emmanuel Macron told Trump as he received the news of his imminent victory. ”With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu also joined scores of other world leaders to congratulate the President-elect.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens,” President Tinubu told Trump as he ” looks forward to strengthening the ties between Nigeria and the United States amid the complex challenges and opportunities of the contemporary world.”
