WED MAR 11 2026-theGBJournal| President Donald Trump has assured FIFA President Gianni Infantino that Iran will be allowed to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.

The reassurance followed discussions between the U.S. leader and the FIFA president Tuesday over arrangements for the global football tournament, as well as the current situation in Iran.

“During the discussions, President Trump reiterated that the Iranian team is, of course, welcome to compete in the tournament in the United States,” Infantino said.

“We all need an event like the FIFA World Cup to bring people together now more than ever, and I sincerely thank the President of the United States for his support, as it shows once again that Football Unites the World.”

The meetings comes just 93 days to kick off of the global event.

FIFA has consistently emphasized that the World Cup should remain an inclusive sporting event that brings nations together regardless of political differences
