Transcorp Group appoints Owen Omogiafo new President/GCEO as women dominate latest board appointments

WED, FEB 12 2020-theG&BJournal– The Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp), leading industrial holding company with over 300,000 investors, has announced significant changes to their board and appointed Owen Omogiafo, certified change manager with the Prosci Institute, USA as the new President/GCEO to replace Valentine Ozigbo who is retiring to pursue a career in public service.
Ozigbo now joins the board as non-executive director following his resignation.
The Transcorp new executive and non-executive board appointments has strong female representation with the inclusion of Dupe Olusola, Helen Iwuchukwu and Okaima Ohizua appointed to top level positions in the corporation.
Dupe Olusola, currently the Group Head Marketing at the United Bank for Africa Plc is to take over at Transcorp Hotel Plc as MD/CEO. The Board approved the appointment of Helen Iwuchukwu as executive director/ chief operating officer of the company. Okaima Ohizua becomes the executive director/chief operating officer of Transcorp Power limited while Christopher Ezeafulukwe, the only male in the latest top level appointments, will assume a new role as the MD/CEO of Transcorp Power Limited.
Currently the MD/CEO of Transcorp Hotel Plc, Omogiafo’s appointment takes effect from March 25 2020. She brings on board over two decades of corporate experience in organisational development, human capital management, banking, change management and hospitality.
Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Transcorp Group and Heirs Holding expressed confidence that the new chief executives and non executive directors will further strengthen Transcorp’s mission of improving lives across the country.

Elumelu said the board of Transcorp will continue to implement its strategy, which has led its investee companies being leaders in their chosen sectors and has seen significant transformation since Heirs Holding invested in the corporation in 2011.
