FRI 24 SEPT, 2021-theGBJournal- The Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, met with Southwest Attorneys-General (SWAG) in Abuja to exchange views on several issues of national importance and discuss ongoing reforms in their various States.

A release issued by Mr. Kayode Oyekanmi, Deputy-Director Public Affairs, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, said the Vice-President urged the Attorneys-General to address the issue of delay in the administration of justice in their respective States.

According to Oyekanmi, the Vice President acknowledged the current individual efforts of each State but solicited further cooperation to deepen the impact of reforms aimed at tackling the challenge of delay in the administration of Justice.

The Deputy Director pointed out that Prof. Osinbajo is considered by many as the godfather of modern-day justice sector reforms in Nigeria with his unrivalled accomplishments as the Attorney-General of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.

“The Vice President during his time as Lagos State Attorney-General introduced a new way of thinking in the areas of access to justice and the administration of criminal justice by trailblazing many of the justice sector reforms still being rolled out today across the Federation”, he said.
