MON, 19 SEPT, 2022-theGBJournal| Such a surreal day for many as the coffin of the great Queen Elizabeth is due to be lowered next to her late husband, Prince Philip at the King George VI memorial chapel later today, after a remarkable state funeral.
Members of the British public and visitors from all around the world threw flowers as the hearse carrying her coffin left Wellington Arch, making its final journey through London as the bell tolled, for Windsor Castle for committal. About 800 guests are expected at Windsor Castle.
The Great Queen’s funeral was attended by over 2,000 guests, including over 500 Heads of Government and State, and billions more watching all over the Commonwealth and around globe.
U.S President, Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as well as European Royal families, Japanese Emperor and Sultans were among hundreds of very important dignitaries who travelled to the United Kingdom to pay their respects.
The Queen, hugely adored and admired all over the world, died on September 8 at the age of 96 after seven decades on the throne.
Earlier in the day, King Charles and senior members of the Royal Family followed in sombre procession as the Queen’s coffin marched from Westminster Abbey to Wellington Arch watched by thousands lining streets.
Prince William and Prince Harry, the Kings Children walked side-by-side behind their father in the procession while the King walked alongside his siblings, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte-Prince William’s eldest two children-entered the Abbey behind the procession.
