SAT, JUNE 03 2023-theGBJournal |Manchester City are now a game away from completing a historic treble. Only Inter Milan stands in their way. Pep Guardiola would know opportunities like this don’t come often, and he’ll keep reminding his players of the feat they’re about to accomplish if they finish strong.

Meanwhile, it was poised to be a thrilling encounter at Wembley today. Manchester City vs. Manchester United, the first ever Manchester derby in an FA Cup final, and yes! It was exciting. Pep Guardiola’s men edged past United to secure a domestic double.

The match couldn’t have begun any worse than it did for the Red Devils. Twelve seconds into the game, City’s fantastic captain, Ilkay Gundogan, whipped a wonderful volley to give City the early lead. It was the fastest goal scored in an FA Cup final.

City dominated the early stages of the game, but Erik Ten Hag’s men soon settled into the game, and they won themselves a penalty half an hour into the game, Bruno Fernandes confidently converted the penalty to level the game.

The game was a tight affair as the first half came to an end. City once again started superbly, five minutes into the second half, Gündoan hit another volley from Kevin De Bruyne’s cross to find the bottom corner of the post.

Sancho or Bumcho

Sancho had been a shadow of everything United thought he would be. He was creative, could assist, and had massive playmaking abilities, and he had been in awful form for United. He has gone through therapy since the beginning of the season but that hasn’t helped him get back to his form.

United would need to consider whether to cut their losses and sell him or give him another season to pick up. United have built several building blocks this season as they aim to get back into prominence.

Garnacho season

Garnacho has been of United’s shining light this season. His pace and dribbling are key components in United’s counter-attack. Next season would be vital in his growth and United would need to tread carefully when deciding his future.

Would it be better to gradually bring him into the team next season or should he be sent on loan? United also need to decide if they need to sign a good winger due to Sancho’s form or give Garnacho the mantle to be that winger.

No stopping this city side.

City have done the double and are on course to do the treble. They just have Inter Milan to play, and they play with much swagger and finesse and know how to score. This city side can make history this season.

Classy Gündoğan

His contact is up at the end of the season, but his form has still been superb. He knows when to turn up on big occasions scoring a brace in this game also alluded to this fact, and he is also on the cusp of captaining this City side to a treble.
