PLATEAU, JULY 19, 2016 – There was tension in Bokkos local government area of Plateau state on Monday, following the killing of Lawrence Agaie, the Saf Ron-Kuelere and paramount ruler of the town.
Also killed were the traditional ruler’s police orderly, Sunday Wuyah, his wife, as well as his son, Shagari.
NAN quoted a source as saying that the monarch was attacked on his way home after visiting his farm in Sha District.
Ikedichi Iweha, spokesman of the special task force (STF), in charge of security in Plateau, confirmed the incident, adding that the corpses had been deposited at an undisclosed hospital in Jos.
He also said that a woman who was shot, but did not die, had been taken to a hospital in Bokkos.
Iweha said that no arrests had been made.
Bokkos, the local government of Joshua Dariye, a serving senator and former governor of Plateau, is not new to disturbing incidents.
Last year, Dariye’s father, aged 80 years, was abducted from Mushere, a community in Bokkos, and the kidnappers demanded a ransom of $10 million.
He was later freed after a week in captivity.
