MON, OCT 23 2023-theGBJournal|The Supreme Court of Nigeria today reserved judgment in the appeal by Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the the Labour Party (LP) against the judgment of the Presidential Election Petition Court which affirmed the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the presidential election, until a date to be communicated to the parties in the case.
The country’s apex court in the same breath dismissed the appeal file the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) on the same issue. The party was also urged to withdraw its appeal as it did not have prayers for determination.
The A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro announced the its decision after counsels to parties adopted their briefs of argument and made final submissions.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court in the course of the hearing, noted there are conflicting letters from the Chicago State University (CSU) on President Bola Tinubu’s certificate.
Justice Okoro in his submission said criminal matters have to be proved beyond reasonable doubt.
“But in this case, there are two conflicting letters from the CSU – one authenticating the president’s certificate and another discrediting it. Which do we rely on?,” he asked.
