MAIDUGURI, JUNE 19, 2016 – Mr Garba Abari, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency, has appealed to Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari`s anti-corruption war.
He made the appeal in Maiduguri on Sunday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
“What government is doing is, first and foremost, to stop the destruction, blocking leakages, stabilising the system and re-engineering its citizens.
“As you already know, this government came at a time of great insecurity when we were already rolling back; at a time when the entire national fund had been reduced to a slush fund,’’ he said.
The director-general commended the Federal Government`s efforts at addressing problems connected with stealing of public money so as to put the nation on the path of sustainable development.
“Nigerians must, therefore, appreciate and understand the fact that the destruction did not come over night; it is a destruction that had been sustained over a period of time.
“What we should be doing as a nation is to actually sensitise Nigerians, mobilise them so that all the vices in the past can be discarded and we turn up a new leave.
According to him, Nigerians should realise that it does not pay to be corrupt and they ought to rally round leaders in the fight against corruption.
He urged Nigerians to imbibe Nigerian’s core values, spirit of honesty, integrity and selflessness in public service.
