WED JULY 03 2024-theGBJournal|Nigeria’s Super Falcons heads to the summer Olympics in Paris, France with a 22-woman squad comprising Nigeria’s world class players after 16-year absence.

Head Coach Randy Waldrum, announced the team list today that includes two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and six forwards.

Asisat Oshoala leads the attacking line-up alongside Rasheedat Ajibade, Uchenna Kanu, Esther Okoronkwo, Chnwendu Ihezuo and Chinonyerem Macleans.

Chiamaka Nndozie and Tochukwu Oluehi are selected as goalkeepers while familiar names, Osinachi Ohale, Tosin Demehin, Michelle Alozia, Nicole Payne and Chidinnma Okeke are named in the defence.

The midfielders named in the squad include Deborah Abiodun, Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini and Toni Payne.

The Super Falcons booked their spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Women’s football tournament after they drew 0-0 against South Africa Bayana Bayana at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria in the last qualifying match.

The Super Falcons play will in Group C which include Brazil, Japan and World Champions Spain, and kick-off their campaign on Thursday, July 25 2024 at Stade de Bordeaux, face Spain on July 28 and Japan on July 31.

Their last two matches will be played at the Beaujoire Stadium, Nantes.
