States Internally Generated Revenue drops by 11.7%, Lagos leads with N204.51bn in H1 2020

TUE, 06 OCT, 2020-theGBJournal-The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) today, published the data on Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) at State level for Half Year 2020, with many states recording significant drop Y on Y (Q2 2020 on Q2 2019) in IGR.
The 36 states and FCT IGR figure totals N612.87bn in H1 2020 down from N693.91bn recorded in 2019, a negative growth of -11.7% year on year.
Similarly, the Q2 2020 states and FCT IGR figure dropped to N259.73bn compared to N353.14bn recorded in Q1 2020. This indicates a negative growth of -26.5% quarter on quarter.
In the top five brackets, Lagos State earned the highest IGR with N204.51bn recorded in H1 2020. The State’s share of N50.034 from FAAC took available revenue in the period to N254.54 billion, but a drop of -0.3% Y on Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019) in IGR.
Rivers State distantly follows Lagos with N64.58bn in IGR, down -15.0% Y-on-Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019). N75.07 billion contribution from FAAC took its cumulative revenue to N139.66 billion in H12020.
FCT beat oil rich Delta into third with N35.20 billion in IGR. FAAC allocation of N33.05 billion took its total available to N68.25 billion in the period under review. IGR also dropped -8.7% Y-on-Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019).
Delta earned bulk of its revenue from FAAC in the period, a total of N100.8 billion while IGR contributed N30.84 billion to the total available revenue of N131.65 billion in H1 2020. The State recorded a -15.2% in IGR Y on Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019).
Ogun State received N23.68 billion in IGR. It received additional N17.32 billion from FAAC to close the period with N41.01 billion in total available revenue in H12020. The State’s IGR posted -19.9% growth Y on Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019).
Yobe, Gombe, Adamawa, Ekiti and Jigawa States recorded the least Internally Generated Revenue in the period, each earning N3.92 billion, N3.78 billion, N3.75 billion, N3.20 billion and N3.0 billion in IGR respectively.
States that Grew IGR
Gombe, Yobe and Ebonyi States posted the highest growth in IGR, 81.5%, 77.8% and 61.7% Y on Y (H1 2020 on H1 2019) respectively. Anambra State managed 9.9% growth and Borno State grew its IGR by 37.3% Y on Y in the period. Enugu also grew its IGR by 14.6% to N12.26 billion.
Kogi and Katsina recorded improvement of 11.2% to N7.4 billion and 15.2% Y-on-Y to N5.53 billion in the period respectively. Nasarawa’s grew its IGR 21.9% to N5.9 billion while Oyo State recorded a 26.4% growth Y-on-Y.
