The Consul-General of Senegal in Lagos, Mr Babacar Mbodj, on Thursday expressed the growing interest of Senegalese businessmen and women in taking advantage of Nigeria’s markets for their products.

Mbodj said in Lagos that although there had been exchange of products between Nigeria and Senegal, Senegalese nationals were indicating more interest in doing business with Nigerians.

According to him, the Senegalese are ready to offer Nigerians a variety of products including vegetables, mangoes, peanuts, oil, phosphate acid for fertilisers, dresses and tourism.

“Nigeria and Senegal, under the ECOWAS agreements, have continued to have longstanding regional trade relations.

“What we currently need is for Nigerian businessmen and women to avail themselves of the increasing business opportunities in Senegal.

“Senegalese have a variety of products to offer to the Nigerian markets,’’ he said.

Mbodj said that his government was calling on Nigerian traders and investors to also come and take advantage of Senegal’s business and investment environment.

He described the Lagos State Chamber of Commerce and Industry(LCCI)’s recent invitation of Senegalese businesses to its forthcoming International Trade Fair as a step in the right direction.

Mbodj said that the fair, scheduled to hold in Lagos, in November, this year, would afford Senegalese manufacturers and traders to showcase their products to Nigerian businessmen and women, as well as other Nigerians.

The consul-general said that his consulate would continue to facilitate more trade relations between Senegalese nationals and the Nigerianbusiness community, adding that Senegal had a lot to offer Nigerians.
