Seasoned diplomat Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli appointed 19th Emir of Zazzau

WED, 07 OCT, 2020-theGBJournal-The Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli as the 19th Emir of Zazzau, according to a statement issued today by Ja’afaru Ibrahim Sani, the State’s Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government Affairs.
He succeeds HRH Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris who died Sunday, September 20, 2020 after a 45-year reign.  Alhaji Bamalli is the first emir to emerge from Mallawa ruling House in 100 years, following the demise in 1920 of his grandfather, Emir Dan Sidi.
Alhaji Bamalli, born in 1966, held the title of Magajin Garin Zazzau and served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Myanmar until his appointment as emir.
The Ahmadu Bello University Law Graduate has been a permanent commissioner in the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission in 2015 and has worked in banking as an Executive Director and later acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Corporation.
He holds a masters degree in International Relations and Diplomacy and a Diploma in Organisational Leadership from Oxford University.
A fellow on Conflict Resolution of the University of York, United Kingdom, Alhaji Bamalli had also worked at the Abuja Metropolitan Management Agency before a stint as head of Human Resources at MTel, the mobile communications arm of the old Nigerian Telecommunications Limited (NITEL).
