KANO, JULY 8, 2016 – The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has advised unemployed graduates in the country to take advantage of the various empowerment programmes of the government to become self-reliant.

The Emir gave the advice on Friday when he paid a traditional Sallah homage to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje at the Government House, Kano.

Sanusi said that jobless graduates could become gainfully employed if they embraced empowerment programmes of state and federal governments.

The monarch then urged youths in the country to refrain from engaging in criminal activities or anti-social acts that could put them in trouble.

The Emir also charged parents to ensure proper moral upbringing and good education for their children.

He said that it was imperative for parents to enroll their wards in schools and support them to pursue higher education.

“It is imperative to invest in education of our children, especially the girl-child, “ he said.

In his remarks, Ganduje said that his administration would complete all meaningful projects inherited from his predecessor and initiate new ones.

He emphasised the state government’s determination to develop infrastructure in the state as part of initiatives to improve the welfare of the people.

Ganduje also called on the people of the state to continue to pray for peace, stability and progress in the country.
