THUR 10 MARCH, 2022-theGBJournal- Three people are confirmed dead, including a six year old girl, after Russian troops blew up a children’s hospital in Mariupol Wednesday, as the World Health Organisation (WHO) says it has verified at least 18 different attacks on health facilities in the besieged country.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensk condemned the attack, saying ‘’it’s beyond atrocities,’’ while urging NATO to impose a no-fly Zone.
The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres also described the attack as ‘’horrific.’’
‘’Civilians are paying the highest price for a war that has nothing to do with them. This senseless violence must stop,’’ Guterres said.
UK top military official called the bombing ‘’a war crime.’’
Over 2 million have already fled the war, according to UN estimate. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Iryna Vereschchuk said today seven more humanitarian corridors is opening to help civilians leave cities under intense Russian pressure.
Ukraine and Russia agreed to establish the corridors and both are scheduled to hold talks in Turkey today.
It’s been 15 days since the Russian invasion, and the General Staff of the Ukraine Armed Forces claims more than 12, 000 Russians casualties, and 1,105 combat armoured machines, 49 aircrafts and 81 helicopters have so far been destroyed by its troops.
The Ukraine Army commanders say the ‘’Russian arm is losing,’’ suggesting that their confidence is at all time low.
Meanwhile, the U.S House of Representatives have passed a delayed $1.5 spending bill that provides $13.6 billion to respond to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Ukraine package includes $6.5 billion for sending troops and weapons to Eastern Europe and to equip allied forces. Another $6.8 billion will go into caring for refugees and providing economic aid to allies and protect against cyber threats. President Joe Biden had requested $10 billion for the aid.
