Addis Ababa – ETHIOPIA– TUE, AUGUST 07 2018-theG&BJournal-A day before her current film – Follow The Ball For Education begins showing in Addis Ababa, 16 year old California Film Maker Zuriel Oduwole took her Basic Film Making 101 Program to the rural parts of Ethiopia earlier Sunday (4th August). It landed in the sleepy subsistence townships, where horse drawn carriages still are the primary means of transportation.
Comprising aspects of her inspirational sessions, and enunciating the power of media and film making in allowing young girls tell their own stories, the program was the highlight of her first official day in Addis Ababa.
The real story is not the 65 young women and girls who turned up, and brought their “A Game” on to see, meet, and hear directly from Zuriel. The real story were their mothers, who being denied the opportunity to dream when they were teenage girls, made every opportunity to take their daughters to their programs, so that they too can one day make an impact not just in their communities, but on the global stage. The event was co-sponsored by Radisson Addis Ababa.
ONE girl, can indeed and truly, make a DIFFERENCE.
