TUE, FEB 25 2020-theG&BJournal- The Rural Electrification Fund (REF) has sent out ‘Call for Expression of Interest’ for upcoming second REF grant and to attend a workshop designed to sensitize project developers and other stakeholders on the nature of the Call.
The stakeholders’ workshop will hold in Abuja on the 30th of March 2020.
The grant is targeted at public/private partnerships deploying hybrid mini-grids, and Solar Home Systems (SHS) across the country, specifically, interconnected mini-grid, isolated mini-grid and Stand-alone systems such as Solar home systems.
The grant amount, according to REF, will be dependent on project cost, size, and needs as specified in the REF operational guidelines.
The REF was set up by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) following the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA) 2005.
The federal government set a target of 75% and 90% electricity access in 2020 and 2030 respectively and it is hoped the REF will provide the required boost to attain the targets.
