WED, DEC 27 2023-theGBJournal|Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governor of Ondo State, has died after a long battle with Leukemia. He died in Lagos on Wednesday, aged 67 years.

He had been on medical leave since December 13, 2023, as a follow-up to his medical treatment abroad.

He was born in Owo to Reverend J. Ola Akeredolu and Evangelist Grace Akeredolu of Aderoyiju family of Igbotu, Ese Odo, Ondo State.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria and a widely respected Nigerian, he was also Managing Partner at the law firm of Olujinmi & Akeredolu, which he co-founded with a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Akin Olujinmi.

He served as the Ondo State Attorney General from 1997 to 1999 and held several positions representing the legal profession.

In 2012 the Nigerian Bar Association named its new secretariat in Abjua after him.

He became Governor of Ondo State after he won the State’s Governorship election on October 2020 after winning in 15 out of 18 local governments.
