FRI, JUN 05 2020-theG&BJournal- Rose Ada Okwechime has retired as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc after successfully transforming the Mortgage Banking stalwart into one of the largest and most profitable, non-aligned Primary Mortgage Bank in Nigeria.
Her retirement takes effect from 31st May, 2020.
Ada Okwechime, who served in the bank for 29 years, will be replaced by Mr Madu Hamman, Abbey’s Executive Director.
Mr Hamman who has over 35 years of banking experience spread across Commercial, Merchant and Mortgage Banking was the Executive Director in charge of Finance and Administration, a position he held for twelve years.
His competencies include strategic leadership, risk management, asset and liability management, credit administration and international finance. He is an alumnus of IMD Lausanne and holds a B.Sc. in Geography and MBA in Technology and Strategy.
Okwechime led a number of transformational projects in the bank that focuses on providing economical housing units for interested home seekers, developers and cooperatives who desired well-structured mortgage offer, including fashioning a number of customer targeted services such as Deposit and funds management, Personal loans, Real estate and mortgage services as well as Children and Syndicated project development.
The Board of the bank in announcing her retired referred to her leadership throughout her stay as ‘’peerless and exemplary.’’
Madu Hamman’s appointment would become substantive when the Central Bank of Nigeria approves it, the Board said Thursday.
