MON MARCH 17 2025-theGBJournal| The Rivers State House of Assembly Monday accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, of ”Gross Misconduct,” an accusation interpreted by many analysts as the beginning of an impeachment proceedings against the embattled governor.
The Assembly members cited ”Acts of Gross Misconducts in the Performance of the functions of their offices as main reason for their action against the embattled governor Fubara.
The notice of the was dated 14th March, notifying the Speaker of the House through the Clark of the Assembly.
The lawmakers said their action is in ”Compliance with section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended) and the extant laws,” which they, the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly forwarded.”
The Assembly members pointed to what they also say is ”reckless and unconstitutional expenditure of public funds contrary to Section 120, 121(1)(2) and 122 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), as one of the ”Gross Misconduct” committed by Governor Fubara and his Deputy.
