…Describes court’ decisions as double victory for Amaechi, APC and Rivers people

TUE, FEBRUARY 05 2019-theG&BJournal-With the Appeal Court ruling Monday to restore the rights of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state to contest this year’s general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been charged to obey the court and list names of the party’s candidates immediately.

Making the call in a statement issued and circulated in Port Harcourt on today, one of the leading voices of the APC in the South-South region of the country, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, also charged the leadership of the party in Rivers state to immediately commence the process of mobilising members of the party as well as the entire state in preparation for the polls

The Appeal Court had on Monday granted a stay of execution order in favour of an application filed by the party, against a High Court decision, which had denied APC the right to feature candidates in all elective contests in Rivers state. The initial application before the High Court was filed by Senator Magnus Abe.

But on Monday, the Appeal Court ordered a stay of execution against the High Court decision, ordering the INEC to list all valid candidates of the APC for the coming elections.

Eze in his statement, noted that the Appeal Court decision came as a result of the party members and leaders ceaseless prayers, congratulating both the leader of the party in the State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and the governorship candidate of the party, Pastor Tonye Cole, for the victory.

“I am elated that the ruling adds faith to all my statements, through which I have continued to maintain that Rivers State APC will surely participate in the elections and will win to reclaim the state from the hands of those who prefer to spread darkness over a State so blessed by God.

“The next line of action now is for the leadership of our great party to set the motion in play and mobilise all our structures to go into the fields in every nook and cranny of the state, spread the news of hope and development for our state. Our members should all be mobilised to fully hit the ground running, getting ready to cast their votes to free our state from mediocre leadership and bring back the days of progress and positive development in Rivers state,’’ he said.

“Once again the Judiciary has proven that it is the bastion of hope for the common man and today will go on record as the day when a new Rivers state was born”, he said.

He congratulated the leader of the party in the South-South, Rt. Hon Amaechi, who is also the Minister of Transportation and DG of the PMB Campaign Organisation, Pastor Tonye Cole and all the party’s faithful and urged all and sundry not to relent until Wike and his government are shoved out of Rivers state accordingly.
