Coalition for Good Governance and Economic Justice in Africa, CGGEJ, yesterday, hailed the Ijaw nation for the re-election of Governor Seriake Dickson of Baylsa State, saying it had opened a new era for the state.
CGGEJ in a statement by is Media Coordinator, Mr. Patrick Omene, congratulated the people and government of Bayelsa State for achieving the feat while urging the governor to build bridges where there are rivers and take sincere measures to heal political wounds in order to lead a people-oriented government.
He said: “The governor must take concrete measures to quell the corrosive tension and bad blood generated by the election that gave him victory, for a peaceful Bayelsa. He must, as a matter of necessity and urgency, know that the famously rich Niger Delta state’s economy is losing life and as such, the need to diversify the state’s economy so that his renewed tenure can open a new era in the Ijaw nation in terms of sustainable development.”
