TUE AUG 26 2025-theGBJournal| In line with ongoing strategic engagement with the sub-nationals, facilitated by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) under the Federal Ministry of Power, the Agency is set to convene a strategic Roundtable in collaboration with the Abia State Government.

REA said the Roundtable will aid the exploration of investment opportunities and renewable energy technology optimization for socioeconomic development in Abia State.

In June 2025, in compliance with the amended 2023 Electricity Act 2023, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) issued the order to transfer regulatory oversight of the Abia State electricity market to the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Authority (ASERA), further strengthening the State’s efforts to facilitate opportunities in this very critical sector,

On the 27th of August 2025, Frasier Suites, Abuja stakeholders from across the renewable energy sector, including Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs), innovators, energy access investors and other State players will convene for the REA – Abia State Roundtable.

While aligning with the tenets of the Act, the State, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has sustained its efforts to create a business-friendly, investment-ready State electricity market, optimizing ASERA, a regulatory agency designed to manage the State electricity market, exploit a range of energy sources, including renewable energy, gas and hydro, and optimize data-driven decision-making for the equitable deployment of energy access to the people of Delta State.

Activated by the MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the REA Strategic Roundtable continues to aid strategic partnerships between State Governments, RESCOs and other frontline stakeholders in the clean energy ecosystem, while aiding the exploration of data-driven strategies, business models and investment opportunities targeted at improving the States’ electricity market.
